KAlmo

Doom metal until this all ends

Kalmo line-up

Kalmo (cadaver in English) is a blackened doom metal band from Finland. Kalmo’s music is raw and dark doom metal spiced with a fistful of death and black metal. The dark songs summon tales and visions about hell and the inevitable end of this all.

Genre: Blackened doom metal spiked with a fistful of death and black metal

Influences: Celtic Frost, Triptykon, Slayer, King Diamond, Candlemass, Black Sabbath, Death Breath, Hellhammer, Vorum, Master

Current lineup: Vocals - Mika, Bass - Anu, Guitar - Pekka

Kalmo's music is deliberately harsh and uncompromising, channeling influences from classic death, black, and doom metal into songs that reflect on death, darkness, and the rottening condition of humanity. The visual side of the project plays an important role as well—Kalmo has self-produced several music videos to accompany the releases, using stark imagery to amplify the mood and message behind the songs.

Since its formation, Kalmo has released three EPs. The debut, Demoni (2019), introduced the project’s gritty, old-school metal sound, drawing influence from legendary bands like Celtic Frost, Slayer, Black Sabbath, and Hellhammer. The second EP, Gehinnom (2021), was released through Sliptrick Records. The third EP, Dominus Meus (2023), continued the journey with a more ambitious approach to production and songwriting, blending primal aggression with bleak, introspective themes, all while staying true to Kalmo’s raw and minimalistic roots.

After years as a solo project, Kalmo has evolved into a full band—fueling the furnace of the damned and carving a darker, heavier path forward. Two new members have joined the fold, both adding a distinct shade of darkness to Kalmo’s evolving sound. With their arrival, the music has grown more intense and immersive, pushing deeper into bleak, atmospheric territory. While the band is still searching for the right drummer and 2nd guitarist to complete the lineup, plans are stirring beneath the surface—promising a more intense and ominous presence in the underground metal scene.
