Biography

Kalmo — Finnish for "corpse" or "spirit of the dead" — is infernal blackened doom from Finland. It began in 2016 as one man's project, released its first record in 2019, and became a full band in autumn 2024; the lineup has taken its current shape over the two years since. Raw, heavy and slow-burning, their doom carries the edges of death and black metal and sinks into death, damnation and decay. The band does everything itself: writing, recording, self-producing, and producing its own stark music videos, with only the mixing and mastering handed to Roland at Cavern of Echoes.

Press

“No other band in recent years has been able to blend the grit of raw black metal with the thunderous majesty of traditional doom quite like Kalmo.”
